Position: UI/UX Designer
Team: Customer Experience / Design
Location: Dubai, UAE (On-site)
Level: Mid-Level (5+ Years)

About the Role

We are looking for a UI/UX Designer who is fast and precise in Figma and understands front-end development well enough to create designs that engineers can efficiently implement. You will own the design process from problem definition to hand-off and quality assurance of the final product.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design end-to-end user flows and interfaces for government digital services across web and mobile platforms.
  • Create wireframes, prototypes, and production-ready UI from research findings and stakeholder requirements.
  • Build and maintain reusable components within the Dubai Design System.
  • Prototype interactions in Figma to demonstrate animations, states, and user flows.
  • Collaborate closely with front-end engineers throughout implementation and QA.
  • Design accessible interfaces that comply with WCAG 2.2 AA standards.
  • Present and justify design decisions to stakeholders across government entities.

Requirements

Figma (Essential)

  • Expert knowledge of Auto Layout, Variables, Modes, Components, Variants, Nested Instances, and Constraints.
  • Experience maintaining shared design libraries.
  • Ability to produce organized, scalable design files.

Front-End Knowledge (Preferred)

  • Strong understanding of HTML and CSS, including Flexbox, Grid, responsive layouts, and design tokens.
  • Familiarity with component-based development concepts.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers.
  • Bonus if you have built and launched your own front-end projects.

Design Skills

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating typography, spacing, hierarchy, and visual design.
  • Ability to explain design decisions based on user experience principles.
  • Excellent attention to detail.

Ways of Working

  • Comfortable working in fast-paced environments with changing requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to gather and interpret stakeholder feedback.

Nice to Have

  • Experience designing bilingual (Arabic & English) interfaces, including RTL layouts.
  • Experience with large-scale design systems.
  • Public sector or enterprise product experience.
  • Accessibility testing experience beyond compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with Storybook, design tokens, or version-controlled design workflows.
