Position: UI/UX Designer

About the Role
We are looking for a UI/UX Designer who is fast and precise in Figma and understands front-end development well enough to create designs that engineers can efficiently implement. You will own the design process from problem definition to hand-off and quality assurance of the final product.
Key Responsibilities
- Design end-to-end user flows and interfaces for government digital services across web and mobile platforms.
- Create wireframes, prototypes, and production-ready UI from research findings and stakeholder requirements.
- Build and maintain reusable components within the Dubai Design System.
- Prototype interactions in Figma to demonstrate animations, states, and user flows.
- Collaborate closely with front-end engineers throughout implementation and QA.
- Design accessible interfaces that comply with WCAG 2.2 AA standards.
- Present and justify design decisions to stakeholders across government entities.
Requirements
Figma (Essential)
- Expert knowledge of Auto Layout, Variables, Modes, Components, Variants, Nested Instances, and Constraints.
- Experience maintaining shared design libraries.
- Ability to produce organized, scalable design files.
Front-End Knowledge (Preferred)
- Strong understanding of HTML and CSS, including Flexbox, Grid, responsive layouts, and design tokens.
- Familiarity with component-based development concepts.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers.
- Bonus if you have built and launched your own front-end projects.
Design Skills
- Strong portfolio demonstrating typography, spacing, hierarchy, and visual design.
- Ability to explain design decisions based on user experience principles.
- Excellent attention to detail.
Ways of Working
- Comfortable working in fast-paced environments with changing requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to gather and interpret stakeholder feedback.
Nice to Have
- Experience designing bilingual (Arabic & English) interfaces, including RTL layouts.
- Experience with large-scale design systems.
- Public sector or enterprise product experience.
- Accessibility testing experience beyond compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with Storybook, design tokens, or version-controlled design workflows.
